Not gonna lie.
The park is not one of my favorite experiences.
But it's an easy experience (once I get everyone in the stroller, and get them their juice, and their favorite blanket, and a snack, and make sure the straps aren't 'bumpley', and make sure they go potty before we leave, even though I reminded them to do that first, and finally yell at them to 'just get in the damn stroller'), it's a healthy experience, and best of all, it's a free experience.
I have no good reason to dislike the park, other than...it's kind of boring, I hate when other kids show up (with their moms), and I really hate when other dogs show up...on leashes.
Because then Frankie has to go on a leash.
(which he should probably be on anyways, because I am certain there is a law somewhere about it...
Go ahead, read me my Miranda Rights).
And lets face it, other dog owners are worse than other moms.
Dog owners are freaks.
And don't even get me started on how much I hate making small talk with other parents at the park...
The same dumb questions...I ask them, they ask me, I reply, they reply: 'oh he's cute', 'oh she's tall', 'which kindergarten', 'full day or half day', 'what's in your flask', blah, blah, blah...and really, truly, neither of us care.
We are just being polite.
I don't want to be polite.
I just want to text my 'real' friends by myself, while my kids play unsupervised, and my dog tackles them freely...off his leash.

I see a lot of park time with these knuckleheads this summer...A LOT.
Even though it might kill me.
They are pretty darn cute when they all decide to play in one area.
But usually one is running the opposite way of the group.
And that one is usually Carson.
Guess I know what I can do with Frankie's leash we are not using.
Brilliant.

i love how much you hate other people and their dogs. you are the best. oh, but i would love to be a fly on the all at the park watching your cute little self chat it up. carson in that hat is so cute... but so big meg. like, so big. i love them playing together. this is too cute. a favorite post of mine. maybe i'll join you this summer at the park. i'm excellent at giving off the don't talk to me vibe.
Dude. Note to self do not invite Megs to the park.
Just joking.
Totally get it.
Dog owners are the worst. Try putting on a dog festival...
Can we talk about that mom that actually runs around with the kids and plays on the equipment with them? So over that mom:) Insert nervous laugh here...
The part flung in there about the flask...literally had me laugh out loud and brought tears to my eyes.:D you totally crack me up.
VODKA SHMODKA!! LOL
Your kids seem to be loving it, Frank not so much with the leash on :-( We are lucky to have Manito Park so close by, the boys LOVE the duck pond and hunting for turtles. And now that I am a fat gramma type, no one expects me to play on the toys with the children, I can safely park myself on a bench and knit.
I had a whole post generated (in my head) about our park experience (which I love) minus other parents and their ass hat children who are mean and don't move so G can go down the slide or swat sticks at him and then I have to be their parents too because their moms are off being skinny and gabbing with another mom and NOT EVEN HAVING MOMTAILS and not paying attention to their children. Who I want to punch in the neck.
Your kids are cute though. And that dog. Love him. You can come to our park. I only make small talk when pushing g in the swing.
I will now be the official park taker....I love all of it, the chatting up, the outside and ESPECIALLY the play with them...you know how I feel about those texting mothers at B Square.
I hated the playground. Absolutely hated it. Would do almost anything to avoid it. Now that Bored Housewife Jr. is 10, though, I kinda miss it.
I'm a big chatter-upper at the park. You'd hate me;) I am just hoping to make friends at the park whose children would like to occupy my children's time at said park. Dog owners are craazzzzzy. Your kids are darling. I love that you are kinda shy. Xoxoxo
I love the danger city Hadley is putting herself in! Climbing the mountain, jumping off the stool things...whoa, who is that chick?
whoops, that's lis, not sam.
Heidi, I think you out it perfectly. I also made a friend in the kiddie pool last summer!
You are funny. You said everything I am thinking when I'm at the park. The weird moms always want to talk to me. One asked me the other day if I highlight Eli's hair. I started laughing, then realized it was a serious question.
PS, as always I am over the moon to see one of the kiddos modeling a hat I knit for them! Carsie looks grand in his Skater Boy hat. And I noticed that Hads wore the Peace Sign hat during the snow.
Knitters love that. You are a good niece.
this is hilarious, dying laughing for multiple reasons. I'll meet you at the park anytime. xoxo
You just said what everyone else (well, me anyway) was thinking. Well done. :)
what is wrong with you people, you are all sick, get rid of your dumb phones and enjoy the day (and kids)
You crack me up, love your honesty. You know me, I literally leave the park with other mom's phone numbers and we hang out which means I get to bring the awkward park conversations to my living room. Next time I'm making you join me for one of my random play dates:)
