Because you only turn 30 once.

It started out over Mexican food, a milk spilling child and a few Coronas. Ryan said 'so what do you want to do for your 30th?'. I said 'I don't know, but I want you to plan it and I want it to be big.' We talked some more, chased our child around the restaurant, had another beer, and it hit me....80'S PROM! And the journey began, Ryan quickly lost his title as 'planner' as I kindly took things over (I'm sure he was fine with this, I can be a little particular), but he did listen to every hair-brained, crazy, over-the-top idea I had, stressed about, obsessed over, and so on along the way. I knew it had to be vintage 80's complete with lots of turquoise, lots of lace, tab soda, a Rubik cube cake (thanks mom...she MADE it!), some wine coolers, spiked punch, chicken-in-a-biscuit and cool ranch Doritos to munch on, domino's pizza (avoid the noid people), a balloon arch, a bazillion balloons, lots of Aquanet, tons of blue make up, plastic jewelry, Belinda Carlise, The Go-Go's, and Wham playing on the boombox, a king and a queen, and the wildest, zaniest, most fun group of people I could get my hands on...and that mean the world to me. It went a little something like this:

My bro ACTUALLY shaved lines into his head. Amazing!

...and the next morning. Apparantly they drank a lot of tequilla and shot gunned tons of beer in the 80's...as evidenced by my poor dying husband at breakfast.

CHEERS to turning 30...I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat! I'm thinking 90's hip-hop for my 40th, so get out your one sided snapped overalls, Cross Colors tees, Reebok pumps and Public Enemy tapes.

San Diego, the Zoo, Seaworld...oh my.

We just got back from San Diego...um, about two weeks ago...but here are some pics never-the-less (or 'nevahless'). We had a beyond fabulous time meeting our little Emma, playing with Jacob, hanging out with Ryan's family (the nicest most hospitable people here on earth), going to the beach, San Diego Zoo, the Tour of California bike race, Seaworld, saw the sun...you name it, we did it.

At the airport, looking SO grown up...and so fancy carrying her own bag.

The first thing we did was head to Carlsbad Beach. I kept saying to Ry 'can you believe this is in their backyard?'(not literally, but only 15minutes away). Kind of made me want to move to S.D. for a year...of course we'd be coming home early for my mom's funeral because she would most definitely die of a heart attack if we ever left (so don't worry mom).

Hads and Jacob.

Creepo...but can't have an entire montage with no SP's...duh.

Check out all the stickers on her. She's obsessed with 'sticks'.

Off to the Zoo!

Are you kidding me...THE cutest!

Emma was rarely impressed by where we took her.

Check out what Benny is doing to Hads...well deserved I'm sure.

Can never get enough pictures of these two yahoos.

The girls both would have done ANYTHING to help with Baby Emma, she was definitely the star of the show. First thing out of Hadley's mouth every morning was 'Where's baby?'. Followed by 'Where's Jake?'.

Love her scrawny little knobby legs.

Hitting up the bike race that ended in Ry's hometown, Escondido. It was quite the event, and quite miserable with strollers.

The park where Hadley got about 11 'time-outs'. She would stand at the bottom of the slide, kids would slide down, naturally, they would almost knock her over with their feet, and when they stood up she would hit them. Cute huh?! It was everything in me not to just let her get clobbered, then maybe she would have learned...but there were way too many witnesses.

Pa and Hadley at the bike race.

Just a snippet of the amount of people that were there. Who knew Ryan's spandex wearing little sport was so popular?

That sweet little face.

Marie made the kids goody bags for each big event. Let me tell you THEY WERE A HIT! Hadley still carries hers around saying 'My treats.'

Checking out sea lions at Seaworld.

We tried to get the kids to all sit up on the Manatee, but Hadley wasn't having it. And look how freaked out Lauren looks...love it.

Then of course after bribes of candy and the sort and after everyone was over it Hadley ran over to the photo op spot and yelled "CHEESE". Too little too late sister.

Big kid rides.

And little kid rides.

Home again, home again, jiggety, jig.
