Definitely a team sport.

birthday boy.

There's no one we would rather celebrate at six o'clock in the morning.
Homemade cards, lululemon swag, a few new tees, an egg mcmuffin with kraft cheese, and Carson sleeping until 8am.
A great start to a birthday indeed.

oktoberfest 2013.

Oktoberfest.
Year number three.
We have learned a lot in three years of this race.
Don't drink the night before the race.
Don't drink a beer during the race.
Don't drink beer right after the race.
Don't drink beer while you're getting ready to go to lunch post the race.
Don't drink beer after beer after beer after beer in the actual festival...because it's okay if those drink tickets go to waste.
Don't stay and drink beer for the Seahawks game the next morning.
Don't count on any of the above actually happening.
Oh, and don't try the hot sauce.
Können trinken.

too cool.

I dropped Hads off at school today, and she strutted away from me right when we went through the gate, no 'good-bye', no 'thanks for the ride', no 'see ya when I see ya.'
This MIGHT not bother me, but every morning, since the start of school, I have pleaded with her to just let me drop her off without having to get all of us out of the car and walk her to the playground before school starts.
And this means without getting Carson out of the car, without the other moms seeing me portrayed as a homeless woman in smelly gym clothes, without tearing Carson off the playground equipment, without attempting to get Carson back to the car without losing his mind, without losing mine as well while his body turns to complete Jello, and without getting me to my boot camp class 10 minutes late.
She will have nothing to do with it.  She wants me to walk into school with her until she sees a friend or two, and then I am free to leave.
With Carson kicking and screaming all the way back.
But today...she was too cool.
And I wasn't having it.
So after she ignored me, and pretended that she didn't know Carson, I gave her one last chance to make things right.
She held strong to the silent treatment.
So, I tackled her by the swings, kissed and hugged the hell out of her, all the while yelling I LOVE YOU HADLEY PRENTICE and I'LL MISS YOU SO MUCH and DON'T FORGET TO WIPE!!!
As soon as I let her free, she quickly dusts the sawdust off her pants, rolls her eyes, and says to her girlfriend...
"This is why I wished I took the bus."
God, just when I think I couldn't love her anymore.
But Hads, don't you dare ignore me again.
This was nothing.

the hutch.

So Ry and I went on a date.
A very fancy date.
A very fancy date that is supporting the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and has you donate money to kiddos and other folks that have fought/and are fighting cancer.
A very fancy date that makes you feel so very lucky for your own health and for those that you love.
A very fancy date where your very fancy husband loses his very fancy mind and bids on a very fancy trip to the X-Games in Austin Texas.
Just because he's feeling extra fancy.
(and extra stupid).
All the while, his very fancy wife was in the very fancy bathroom, when he was 'winning' his very fancy trip.
At the very fancy price of just over three grand.
And when she returned, he was quickly punched in his very fancy bald head.
Oh vey.
Next time we're feeling fancy I am leaving my credit card...and my date at home.
(or in Austin).

broccoli tale.

There once was a boy who wouldn't eat his broccoli.
He wanted nothing to do with it.
At all.
But then he heard sirens, and we told him it was the Police coming to take him away for not eating his broccoli.
The boy believed us.
And I guess he really likes us, because he gobbled up the rest of his broccoli without flinching.
And promptly asked if we would tell the Police 'to not come get him now.'
Parenting is so easy sometimes.
And cruel.
The end.
