OMG...3 months old!

Today our little gal is 3 months old, and it's seems this should be impossible. Feels like only yesterday we were feeding round the clock, trying our best to appease a fussy baby, and waking up all through the night. Oh that's right, it was only yesterday:). I remember when Hads was about 2 weeks old and I thought "I can't wait until 3 months from now, then we will have it all figured out." Shows you how truly clueless a new mom is. We're still trying to find our "schedule", understand how a full night of sleep needs only be 5 hours long (according to all the stupid books), and trying to figure out the teeny tiny differences of each cry (where's that crying expert that was on Oprah when you need her). I thought I had this parenting thing in the bag before she was born...I mean how hard could it be (seeing that both of our parents were able to do it in their teens). WOW, have I been humbled. Thanks Hads for making each day a new adventure...but some redundancy wouldn't be a bad thing.Wednesday, June 13, 2007

So close...
We've been terrible at putting Hadley on her stomach because she hates it (and we don't like to see her upset)...but then we learned she will never roll over if we don't. So we've stepped it up a notch, and started "tummy time" boot camp. We don't want her baby friends to make fun of her at the next Mom-n-me group.
You're almost there babe. That darn right arm always gets in the way.Thursday, June 7, 2007
Worst Mom Ever!
Now we're smiling! Here's how the story goes:
So...I have been complaining how ridiculously fussy our little Hadley is for a few weeks now. A good Mom would maybe look into this and try to find a reason, where as a Mom who works in an ICU at Children's Hospital doesn't think anything is that big of a deal, unless they are bleeding profusely, not breathing, or their heart has stopped. So a fussy baby yielded a lot of complaints, but not a lot of action by.
Last Friday, Ryan watched Hadley and she had the best day ever. I figured it was just beginners luck, but then realized he had fed her by a bottle all day. So I thought, well maybe she just likes a bottle better. I was right, and since Friday she has refused to nurse from me and will ONLY take a bottle. So I've been pumping like a mad woman and just this Monday realized that I only make about 2 ounces of milk from each side. A typical baby Hadley's age needs about 3-4oz every 2-4 hours. Now I'm starting to realize why my kid is only in the 17th percentile for weight. I would feed her from one side at each feeding, not both like you're supposed to (I didn't know this)...so she was only getting 2 ounces every 3+ hours...she was crying because she was STARVING!!! Needless to say, she's been getting 4oz per feeding ever since and she's a new kid. Thank God Mother's Day has already come and gone. I've taken all the tags off my new loot, so it cannot be returned:).
