one...for reals.

Oh, you didn't think I was done did you?
Nope.
I have a whole nother post about this guy.
On his REAL birthday.
Ry took the day off, he cooked a breakfast fit for a king, we went to 'Lauren's' Children's museum (Hadley's pick...and she was thrilled....f Cars wants a say in what we do for his bday he has to learn to speak  up).  We met Jamie (Utah living B.F.) and her fam bam, then had lunch at a brewery.
Only to be topped off with dinner at a brewery.
That's how you celebrate in the Prentice household.
With beer.
You wanna meet a crack-up...let me introduce you to Lily.
A 3 year old going on 29.
She's something else...I'm thinking of dropping Jamie and giving the other half of my bestie necklace to this kid.
We skipped a nap.  We lived on the edge.
No seriously, my stomach was in knots.  I don't like missing naps.
My kids self-destruct.
But that day they made me eat crow.
Meeting baby girl Barton #2.
Quinn.
Or more affectionately known as...
Quinner, Quinner, Chicken dinner.

Then to Redhook with our peeps.
How do you spell L-O-V-E?...
(see below).
And home again home again for presents...the perfect Grand Finale.

the party.

Every year when it comes to the kids birthday I say I am going to do something small.  Something quaint.  Something that fits around a dining room table.
And every year I always end up doing something not so quaint, not so small, and something that doesn't even fit in the dining room, yet alone at the table.
What can I say I like to celebrate my kids.
Okay, let's be honest, I like to celebrate with my nearest and dearest...and I like things big.
(that's what she said).
17 kids under the age of 9.
Chaos at its best.
Not to worry, there were xanax in the treat bags.
Thanks to all that celebrated our boy...thanks to no one for the mess.
And you're welcome for the headache and the heart palpitations.
Let's party.

All worth it.

good peeps.

We are surrounded by them.
And their kids.
And there is nothing better than the kids of the ones you love.
Nothing.
Because you can treat them like your own...without all the hassles of being the parent.
And you can give them candy without asking.
And then they leave.
A visit with the Conniffs...and their boys.
A dinner party with my work ladies...and their hooligans.
Yes, Fiona brought all her hooligans...but only because she couldn't find a babysitter for Steve.  Three cheers to him for making the best costume I have ever seen.
A turkey pre-funk with Sarah & James.
They don't have kids.
They seem so happy.
They are so well rested.
And so well dressed.
Baby Camilla in the house.
Conniff's place.  Take two.
Kids on a couch...nothing tops it.
And a special visit from my buddy Luke.
And his best pal...his Mama.
Yep, we're pretty spoiled.
Spoiled rotten.

then & now.

I took Carson and Hads to Jump Planet the other day.
You know...the kind of places us parents have a love/hate relationship with.
But as much as I love to hate these places...they are pretty divine.
However, one of my babies wasn't always so in love with this little jumping paradise.

Hadley at Jump Planet...at about 14 months.
Carson at Jump Planet...a little less than 12 months old.
Let's just say, each kid had a very different experience.
Like oil and water these two.

doctor. doctor.

One year check-up...

One year stats:
22 lbs 13 oz (73%)
31 inches long (82%)
18 inch noggin (80%)
You're long, you're lean, you can't sit still to save your life...
And you got A LOT of shots.
And then slept for 4.5 hours.
Can we go back tomorrow?

What they look like at 7am.
What we look like at 7pm.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

i am thankful.

I am thankful for boxers.
I am thankful when I find these little gems on my camera.
(love Carsie peeking in).
I am thankful for REI.
I'm thankful for the Children's Museum.
I'm thankful for her sense of humor.
I'm thankful for big plastic toys.
(you are probably not thankful for my giant carbon footprint).
I'm thankful for big sisters.
I'm thankful for Redhook being one mile from our house.
I'm thankful for her independent little spirit.
(I am not thankful for her lack of style...beggars can't be choosers).
I'm thankful for his big grin.
I am thankful for these full arms.
(and mascara).
And more than anything...
I am thankful that I will only have to live with this mustache for 6 more days.
