lo is seven.

I have heard this gal talk about getting her ears pierced since the day she turned six.
"Auntie Meg, when I am seven I get my ears pierced.  And when I am eight maybe I will get them double pierced...like you."
I replied, "You are?!  That's awesome.  I also used to have my eye brow and nose pierced.  Maybe you could get those done when you are nine and ten."
And she said, "YOU DID?!?!  YOUR MOM LET YOU DO THAT?  My mom would NEVER let me do that.  Maybe she will when I am a teenager."
I wouldn't bet on it babe.
But I think you are the bravest little thing in the whole wide world.
You were so nervous sitting in your Mama's lap, and I was wondering if you were going to 'chicken out'.
But you didn't.
You talked the talk and you walked the walk.
And your strong will and determination are maybe the things I love about you most.
That, and the fact that you think I am really cool.
xoxo
Happy Day to You!

spring wing ding.

Hadley's AM/PM Kindergarten class had a little performance.
The Spring Wing Ding.
And although she wasn't the star of the show (that was left to the three year old that kept running up to the front, and the mom that did nothing about it, so the teachers had to discipline her)...she was definitely the most serious in the show.
She stared straight ahead, had her arms crossed at breaks, did not acknowledge her peers, did all her hand moves with precision, sang all the words to each song without fail (or lip synced...who really knows), gave a sly little smile when her name was on the big screen prounoucing that...'in Kindergarten she learned repeating patterns, how to count by 10's, and about animals', and had the biggest cheering section in the place.
Yep, we are pretty proud of our little starlet.
And super glad that we are nothing like her.
Focused.  Determined.  Rule follower.  Boring.

bedtime opposites.

These two couldn't be more different when it comes to bedtime.
I could seriously put her to bed at 5pm.
He usually doesn't fall asleep until well after 9pm... and always passed out right in front of his door.
She gets in jammies, brushes her teeth, lays around, sucks her thumb, and wants to cuddle after tubbies.
He runs around naked, refuses to get in jammies, jumps off things, vrooms cars (very violently), and yells alot after tubbies.
She is asleep before we even finish book number two.
He is done listening, out of bed, running around, and getting in trouble before we even finish book number two.
She goes to bed without a peep.
He goes to bed kicking and screaming.
Literally.

non stop.

"I jump my bed Mama.  I lub my bed Mama.  I not take a nap in my bed Mama.  Just jumping.  No sleeping."
Good thing he cleared that up.
He only reminds me 86 times a day.
And he takes a nap in the bed every day.
So there.
I win.

doctor doctor.

Hadley Jane.
6 years old.
50.6 inches (99%).
62lbs (95%).

Carson Ryan.
2.5 years old.
37.8 inches (92%).
30.5lbs (60%).

No shots.
No one trying to escape the office.
Or ruining the tissue paper.
Or standing on the topsy turvy stool.
Or fighting with each other.
Or interrupting.
These visits are getting easier and easier.
Thank you iPhone for keeping my giants entertained.

mom's day.

Ryan asked me what I wanted for Mother's Day.
I replied (without hesitation)...
"A day to myself.  All by myself."
He replied (without hesitation)...
"How about something nice from J.Crew?"
And you know what, he was right.
He's always right.
Try as I might to be a recluse...I always have way more fun in a 'more the merrier' atmosphere.
And I couldn't imagine a better day than spending it with this crew.
They are pretty awesome.
And I am a lucky gal.
We started the day with donuts, coffee, gifts, and greyhounds.
Perfection.

And we ended the day with hot dogs, potato chips, a boat ride, and greyhounds.
Perfection.

photoshoot.

Nikki (Taylor) and Tyson (Beckford) they are not.
(Am I dating myself?).
But Hadley wanted an impromptu photoshoot to practice for upcoming class pictures.
And Carson never wants to be left out.
Ever.
She was worried her shoes didn't match her outfit.
I told her they did.
She needed proof.
And I kindly reminded her...that it didn't really matter anyway...because she will most definitely be in the back row of her class pictures.
For the rest of her life.

These two make a good team.
