dog days of summer.

July.
Wait.  It's over?
What the hell.
I am thankful I don't have one of those fancy chalkboard 'to do' lists...because not a thing would be crossed off.
Yet.
And that would cause me sleepness nights.
Because I don't like things undone.
But we've been doin'...even if it's not on the 'list'.
And here's how we do...
Enjoying the heat.
\
Watching this gal kill it.
Hanging with Carson and his harem.
Looking stoned and eating Popsicles.
Being proud of ourselves.
(I BUILT THAT!)
Sticking our hands in mufflers.
(not as proud of that).
Walking our babies.
Getting 'time-outs' at swimming.
Going to the dentist.
(I don't think he got a 'time-out' there).
Face-time reading with Dad.
Hitting up Zoo tunes.
(in a Justin Bieber wig).
And enjoying Huey Lewis.
Not enjoying Hads leaving for Basketball Camp.
Not enjoying walks with Frankie.
Ahhhh...but enjoying these.
(me not him).
Looking angry at breakfast.
(starting to sense a theme here).
Looking thrilled at Memory.
(she beat me...legitimately).
Doing puzzles.
Doing Kool-Aid.
Doing the boat.
And loving it.
Being best buds.
Reading.  Reading.  Reading.
Sleeping in.
(until 9am...PR for this kid).
Wasting time.
Spying airplanes.
Having sleepovers.
Playing trains.
(you're welcome for that track).
Acting like dorks.
Going to ball games.
Eating nothing but kettle corn, dippin' dots, and red ropes.
Running everywhere.
Going to futbol games.
(in my biebs wig again).
Going to Redhook.
Hanging with the Barton gals.
They are something special.
(and naughty...the best combo).
Hanging with eachother.
Hanging with cousins.
Hanging with our 'kids'.
Co-Sleeping.
Hanging in the backyard that turned into a playground.
Getting cavities filled.
Baking cookies.
Shooting hoops.
And getting nothing but net.
Okay...so maybe we could have crossed at least one thing off the list.

the game farm.

Okay, so I will be honest.
I usually hate this stuff.
It always seems like it takes forever to get to the destination, you pack up way too much crap for somewhere you are going to be for less than five hours, and then you spend the day with whiny, ungrateful, tired kids.
My kids are so lucky to have a mom whose glass is always half full.
(that's why I never let my other 'glass' get anywhere near empty).
I am a drag...and I know it.
BUT...
this time, this adventure was really, really, really, really, really fun.
And I think it's because I had zero expectations.
I had never even heard of this little 'zoo' all the way over the mountains and thru the woods (okay, down the freeway and across the Puget Sound).
It was awesome.
And the kids LOVED it.
And no one was cranky.
(Okay, I was a tad cranky at ice cream when I snapped at my mother, but that was a good six hours into our day, so I'm quite proud of myself).
And we got to celebrate the spunkiest little four year old in a pretty major way.
Thanks Allie for a great little birthday adventure.
And thank you giant Buffalo for not denting our car.
(Blog Moms, put this on your 'summer to do' chalkboard list next year...it's really quite a treat).
