Hadley received some new very fancy lady dress up clothes for her birthday. And boy does she feel like the Bell of the Ball. The tulle did cause some problems in the carseat (as you could surely imagine), and after I kept hearing 'no mama, i stuck' I said, 'well lets just take off your dress.' To which she quickly replied 'NO mama, I fance!'.

Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus...
Duck poop.
It was absolutely gorgeous today, at least 50 degrees out, and the sun was S-H-I-N-I-N-G-...HOORAY! Joc stopped by while Hads was taking a nap and I kept asking what I should do with Hadley when she wakes up...she said 'has she ever fed ducks.' Brilliant Watson! Feed the ducks we did...kind of.
The whole way to the ducks (all 2 minutes) Hadley kept saying "I feed ducks Mama." But when we were in the actual vicinity of the ducks she darted the other way and said "No ducks Mama." And of course, when we left, after she made zero eye contact with the ducks she said "I hold those ducks Mama, I love ducks."
And ending the day with some ice cream. Gotta say it was a great afternoon, even with the Queen of the Weenies.

Holla back.
Who cares about your ABC's and 123's when you can throw these phrases out on the playground?! Oh her Kindergarten teacher will be so proud.
Pinch me please.

Strike a pose.
Right before I took this picture I told Hadley to 'pose'...I was hoping more for a 'Vogue' Madonna pose, but will settle for this sassy little look. Where does she learn this crap? Ryan maybe?
Quote of the day.
"Children are the orgasm of life. Just like you did not know what an orgasm was before you had one, nature does not let you know how great children are until you have them".

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse...bless your heart.
The Gambler.
Last Friday was 'Boyfriend' Bennett's 30th birthday...and we were lucky enough to be invited to his little shindig. A month ago Joc wanted to go big and rent something out or go somewhere for the weekend, but soon decided to keep it perfectly simple. And perfect it was. It started with Happy Hour at McCormick and Schmick's, then down the road to Palamino where we enjoyed some pizza, pasta, and tequila (because they go together like peas and carrots). To top the night off we headed to the world renown Caribbean Casino (about a mile down the street from our house)...say what???!!! We were standing outside in the blustery wind, after dinner, trying to decide what to do next, and Bennett decided the Casino would be the ideal place to cap off the night. Joc was a good sport and said 'well, I guess it's your birthday'...this was after she rolled her eyes, called him a loser, and told him he surely wasn't using HER money to gamble. Funniest thing...we all had a blast, and I got to know where some of my neighborhood's finest hole themselves up every Friday...and a 'hole' it was, a dark, neon turquoise and pink, covered in faux palm trees of a hole.
Birthday dessert #1.
And #2.
The perfect little night-cap. The people in there definitely made us feel young...lets just put it this way, all the handicapped parking was taken and there were a lot Little Rascals puttering around.

Chillin' at the park...literally.
She was scalped.
Hadley was starting to look a bit like a scrapnoodle, so I finally took her to get her haircut...for the third time in her life. And WHOA, we got our money's worth. The gal just kept cutting and cutting and finally when she said is that enough I said, 'well, we won't need to come back for awhile.' But it grows back...and probably even more quickly in warm weather (right Val?).
They even buzzed the back of her neck...that's how short we're talking.

Running little leprachauns.
We braved the snow, the 50,000 people, and the no good that comes with drinking beer at 9am.
A real life policeman.
We were just strolling through the 'hood the other evening and all of the sudden got honked out by a cop car...next thing I know he's flipped a bi*ch in the middle of the road and is parked up on the sidewalk next to us. Hooray, I thought, that must be Officer Cougan. Sure enough, out of the car comes Pete with his big ole' smile. Hadley would have nothing to do with him, except a few shy smiles, but he showed her all sorts of cool tricks his car could do. And you wouldn't believe the looky-loos that rolled past us at one mile per hour to catch a glimpse of one of us hopefully being arrested. No such luck.

A day in the life of a gal turning two.
So along with all the obvious benefits of turning two, such as, being able to take over the counter cough meds, not having your age referred to in months anymore, temper tantrums galore, and being able to take Benedryl for plane rides and assured sleep, a kid also gets a birthday. My original plan was to give her whatever she wanted and to never utter the word NO...the plan backfired and Hadley was in her fifth or sixth time out by 9am. Oh it's a hard life being the life of the party, but she rallied...so enjoy her adventure into 'twohood'...and try to stay awake because this post may actually be longer than War & Peace. Oh well, a gal only gets to be two once right...THANK GOD!
Hads was pleased as punch for the visit.
Helping Mama make cupcakes and eating lots of finger dips of batter...were waiting for salmonella to visit anytime.
Typical Maddie pose. Sucking on the wrist with a hand down a shirt.
What would she do without so many cousins to help. Opening presents was an absolute whirlwind event.
The moment of truth...the cake! Hadley had been talking about cake since the minute she woke up.
Just a peek at all the family and friends at her birthday. Having 10 little ones there provided excellent birth control for the adults. To all that were there...you're pretty much the best and I hope the beer and valium I was doling out made it all worth it. SMOOCH!
She was a maniac and loved all the attention...a gal after my own heart!
To think, 12 years ago we were two teenage kids meeting in a swimming pool at 1am in Mexico...who woulda thunk?!
